18-073 Corps invites comments on draft FONSI for Wilson Bridge boat ramp improvement project

Published July 11, 2018
WILSON, Wyo. – The Walla Walla District Corps of Engineers (Corps) invites your comments on its Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Wilson Bridge Boat Ramp Improvements, Section 408 Permission, Teton County, Wyoming.

Pursuant to 33 United States Code, Section 408, Corps permission for Teton County’s Wilson Bridge boat ramp improvement project is necessary because the project has the potential to alter the Snake River Federal Levee Project, a levee system which was constructed, in part, and currently managed, by the Corps.

The Wilson Bridge boat ramp has minimal improvement and experiences high use by the public and commercial operations. The lack of improvements at the boat ramp limits the functionality and safe operation of the site. The county’s proposed development will include a new levee access road, a new bathroom, group meeting areas and a network of ADA-compliant pedestrian pathways to allow better access.

To satisfy the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analysis requirements, the Corps plans to adopt the BLM’s 2014 Environmental Assessment (EA), Recreational Improvements on Parcel 13, DOI-BLM-WY-100-2014-0058-EA, for issuing a right-of-way to the County for the project. The BLM posted notification of the EA on their public NEPA website. The Corps also plans to accept Teton County’s 2016 Environmental Analysis, Wilson Boat Ramp. The Corps independently reviewed these documents and determined the information contained within them is accurate and satisfies the requirements of the NEPA regulations.

The Corps will accept comments July 11 through Aug. 13, 2018. Electronic comments may be submitted directly to the Corps using the online comment form: http://www.nww.usace.army.mil/EnvironmentalComplianceComment/. Comments must be posted online, e-mailed or postmarked no later than Aug. 13, 2018 to be considered.
