POMEROY, Wash. – Willow Landing, located about 18 miles east of Little Goose Lock and Dam on the south shoreline of the lower Snake River near Pomeroy, Washington, will be temporarily closed Monday, Sep. 10 until Friday, Sep. 14, to accommodate asphalt maintenance work, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials announced today.

Lower Granite Natural Resource Management maintenance staff will repair cracks in the parking lot and access road, apply a seal-coat and perform striping. While work is in progress, the area will be temporarily closed to all types of vehicle and pedestrian traffic. The temporary closure is needed make sure the work crew has safe access to the entire area, and to protect visitors, their vehicles and camping equipment from seal-coat and striping overspray.

“This short closure will allow staff to complete work performed two weeks ago,” noted Walla Walla District Park Ranger Sara Jones. “Not only will the additional seal-coating improve the durability of the asphalt, the new parking lot striping will help improve visitor safety.”
