20-035 Revised Master Plan and EA for Lower Monumental and Little Goose open for public comment

Published July 17, 2020

SNAKE RIVER, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps), Walla Walla District, has released drafts of the revised Lower Monumental and Little Goose Project Master Plans, each with an accompanying draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Environmental Assessment (EA). The public comment period will run from July 20 to Aug. 21.

The Master Plans guide how the Corps manages project lands along Lake Herbert G. West and Lake Bryan behind Lower Monumental and Little Goose dams.  Master Plans are high-level, strategic documents that describe how recreational, natural and cultural resources will be managed for the next 20 years.  Master Plans do not address dam operations such as spill, fish passage, or dam breaching.

The revised Master Plans, draft FONSIs and EAs, along with the original Master Plans and other associated documents, are available on the Corps’ website at https://www.nww.usace.army.mil/Locations/District-Locks-and-Dams/Lower-Monumental-Lock-and-Dam/Lower-Monumental-Master-Plan/ and https://www.nww.usace.army.mil/Locations/District-Locks-and-Dams/Little-Goose-Lock-and-Dam/Little-Goose-Master-Plan/.

Written comments on the Master Plans and EAs will be accepted through Aug. 21. Comments may be submitted via email at LowerMonumentalMP@usace.army.mil or LittleGooseMP@usace.army.mil, or by using the online comment form on each Master Plan webpage. Comments can also be mailed to:
