AHSAHKA, Idaho –  The public is invited to attend free nature-themed movie presentations at the Dworshak Dam Visitor Center theater during March, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials at the dam announced today.

These G-rated movies will be shown on the following schedule:

·     Friday, Mar. 11 – Gentle Ben 2. Shows at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Gentle Ben 2 is the continuing story of a boy who protects a friendly black bear named Ben.

·     Friday, Mar. 18 – Escape to Grizzly Mountain. Shows at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. This movie starring Dan Haggerty is about a boy who rescues a grizzly bear cub from a dishonest circus owner.

·     Friday, Mar. 25 – A Bug’s Life.  Shows at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.  A Bug’s Life is an animated feature offering a new perspective about the adventurous world of bugs.

Prior to each movie, Dworshak Rangers will provide a 10-15 minute presentation about the wildlife or natural history depicted in the film. While at the visitor center, movie-goers can explore the many educational and fun displays, including a water safety room where children can play in a boat, create water safety posters and try on life jackets.

Dworshak Natural Resource Manager Paul Pence said his staff started the nature-themed movie showings as a way to provide “good, wholesome family entertainment.”

“It’s a great way for kids, parents and grandparents to get out of the house for a while – and it’s free,” he said. “Folks can come watch a movie, learn more about the animals and environment from our rangers, and spend some time doing fun activities in the visitor center.”

For more information about the movies, water safety, recreation opportunities and current conditions, call the visitor center during business hours at (208) 476-1255.
