Construction work to temporarily close McNary Dam’s Spillway Park Nov. 1, 2011 – April 1, 2012

Published Oct. 26, 2011

UMATILLA, Ore. – Public access to Spillway Park, located about one-half mile downstream of McNary Lock and Dam on the Oregon shoreline, will be closed to accommodate construction activities Nov. 1, 2011, through April 1, 2012, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials at the dam.

The temporary park closure is necessary to ensure public safety while the Corps constructs a juvenile fish outfall pipeline from the juvenile fish facility adjacent to McNary Dam to a location about one-half mile downstream to the Columbia River.

Visitors should avoid any area which is designated as a closed construction zone or marked off with caution tape or fencing material.
