Mill Creek’s north-shore trail to temporarily close for riprap placement

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Parts of the paved trail on the north side of the Mill Creek channel will be temporarily closed to all visitors on Monday, Aug. 5, through Thursday, Aug. 8, while channel maintenance activities occur in the creek, just below the dam.

A $19,650 contract to replace riprap stones in the channel was awarded to Harry Johnson Plumbing & Excavation, Inc. of Walla Walla, Wash. Heavy equipment and construction vehicles will be accessing the area from the entrance to Rooks Park and along paved trail leading to the dam. This area of the trail and the portion leading to the foot bridge will be closed during construction period to help keep visitors safe.
