13-075 Vehicle-crossings temporarily suspended to accommodate security exercise

Published Nov. 26, 2013

LOWER SNAKE RIVER, Wash. – Public vehicle crossings at three dams on the lower Snake River are temporarily suspended throughout today, Nov. 26, to accommodate a security exercise, according to officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District.

The temporary change of schedule was also updated on the dam-crossing information line, 1-888-DAM-INFO (1-888-326-4636), which provides the most current dam-crossing information at all three of Walla Walla District’s dams that allow public traffic to cross the Snake River: Lower Monumental, near Kahlotus, Wash.; Little Goose, near Starbuck, Wash.; and Lower Granite, near Pomeroy, Wash.

The district may, at any time, close access to traffic for extended periods of time to accommodate operations, maintenance or construction-related activities at a dam. A change in security conditions could also terminate public access across the dam until such time as threat levels decrease. If possible, the public will be notified in advance about closures.
