  • Corps dams closed for vehicle crossings on Thanksgiving Day

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – If your upcoming Thanksgiving Day holiday plans include a road trip to visit family and friends on the opposite side of the lower Snake River, you may want to keep in mind that all four U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams will be closed to cross-dam public vehicle traffic on this federal holiday -- Thursday, Nov. 22.
  • Dworshak announces Visitor Center Thanksgiving holiday schedule

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – The Dworshak Dam Visitor Center will close during the Thanksgiving Day holiday -- Thursday, Nov. 22, and Friday, Nov. 23, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers recreation staff announced today. The boat ramps at Big Eddy and Bruces Eddy open for use during the holiday schedule. Fishing enthusiasts will find and the fishing wall area below the dam also remains open.

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Dworshak Dam and Reservoir recreation operations staff will close Dam View Camping Area, Canyon Creek Campground and Merrys Bay Day-Use Area on Friday, Nov. 30, for the winter season.
  • Ice Harbor navigation lock returns to service for commercial vessels; slated to reopen for recreational vessels Friday

    BURBANK, Wash. – Ice Harbor Dam’s navigation lock reopened for commercial vessels today after contractors completed work to remove and dispose of an accumulation of rocks and earthen materials from the downstream approach that posed a potential hazard to vessels, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operations officials at the Walla Walla District.
  • Corps invites public comments on Confluence Project lease environmental assessment

    CLARKSTON, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District is inviting public comments on an environmental assessment (EA) for a Confluence Project lease for artwork installation at Chief Timothy Park. Comments on the EA and an associated draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) are due by Dec. 10.
  • Ice Harbor navigation lock to be closed to recreational vessels for channel maintenance work Nov. 12 – 16

    BURBANK, Wash. – Ice Harbor Dam’s navigation lock, located at Snake River Mile 9.7 near Burbank, Wash., is planned to be temporarily closed to all recreational river traffic beginning Monday morning, Nov. 12, and ending Friday evening, Nov. 16. The closure is for channel maintenance work to remove and dispose of an accumulation of rocks and earthen materials within the downstream lock approach area identified during a recent Corps survey. Commercial navigation traffic will be allowed only during evening hours.
  • Lower Granite open for vehicle crossings on Veterans Day; Travelers should plan alternate routes across river at ‘LoMo’ and Little Goose dams

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – If your upcoming Veterans Day weekend plans include a road trip to visit family and friends on the opposite side of the lower Snake River, you may want to keep in mind that most U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams are closed to cross-dam public vehicle traffic on federal holidays, unless otherwise announced.
  • Corps conducts maintenance on John Dodge, Boat Ramp levees

    JACKSON, Wyo. – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, is conducting routine maintenance and repairing deficiencies resulting from past years of seasonal flooding on two levees within the Jackson Hole Levee Project, a system of many levee sections that provides flood-risk management benefits to communities along the upper Snake River near Jackson, Wyo.
