    UMATILLA, Ore., & BURBANK, Wash. – McNary and Ice Harbor dams' navigation locks will be closed to all river traffic Sept. 9, between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. McNary Lock and Dam is located near Umatilla, Oregon, at Columbia River mile 292. Ice Harbor Lock & Dam is located near Burbank, Washington, at Snake River mile 9.2.

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Walla Walla District (Corps), invites public comments on the draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Environmental Assessment (EA) for Dworshak Lock and Dam’s vegetation management plan. The Corps proposes to implement vegetation management projects identified in the Dworshak Five-Year Vegetation Management Plan (fiscal years 2015-2020) to improve ecosystem health and enhance elk habitat on lands surrounding the Dworshak Dam and Reservoir.

    Corps deploys power experts to support Washington State wildfire response WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Two U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, employees deployed today to Bothell, Washington, in response to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Region 10’s request for subject matter experts to support operational planning efforts to provide emergency power to wildfire-impacted areas throughout Washington State, according to Corps emergency management officials.

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – With significant public input, the Walla Walla District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has completed a Dworshak Reservoir Master Plan that addresses recreation and natural resource management changes based on current reservoir operating conditions.
  • 15-051 Wildfires disrupt power to Dworshak’s Dent Acres campground; campers, visitors urged to use Dworshak State Park

    AHSAHKA, Idaho -- Because of multiple fires burning in the region near Orofino, Idaho, electrical service to Dent Acres Campground has been disrupted, also affecting sewer and water availability. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers staff at Dworshak Dam and Reservoir are closing the camp except for dry-camping in a large parking lot. Water and power services are also unavailable throughout the park, although the boat ramp and day-use area remain open.
  • 15-050 Irrigation water releases lower Lucky Peak Lake; Watersport enthusiasts advised to be aware of changing water elevations

    BOISE, Idaho – Water levels at Lucky Peak Dam and Lake are dropping as water operations managers for the Boise River reservoir system release water to meet irrigation commitments. Lucky Peak Lake elevation was about 3,054 feet on Aug. 14. Lake elevation will likely fall to about 3,031 feet by Labor Day in early September, affecting some boat launching facilities on the lake.

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District (Corps) will host a public meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 12, to provide information and solicit written comments on a draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Environmental Assessment (EA) for maintenance to occur along the landward-side of the Corps-managed portion of the Mill Creek Levee System in Walla Walla.

    UMATILLA, Ore. – McNary Lock and Dam staff will allow access to the north side of the navigation lock Monday afternoon to allow visitors an up-close look at a “tall ship” as it locks past the dam on its way to Arlington, Ore., Walla Walla District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, officials announced today.
