  • 20-052 Floating Guidewall Cable replaced at Lower Monumental, restrictions still in place

    Kahlotus, Wash. – On June 13, an operator at Lower Monumental Lock and Dam noticed that the floating guidewall had drifted out of alignment. A service cable inspection and repair dive were conducted and discovered, on July 28, that the anchor cable had broken, allowing the guidewall to swing towards the dam until broken cables snagged in the mud. To prevent further movement, and to allow grain to continue moving down river, Corps officials brought in a tugboat to hold the guidewall in place. The tugboat held the guidewall in place from Aug. 1 until Sep. 22.

    Clarkston, Wash. – The park hours at Swallows Park, Chestnut Beach, and the restrooms at the Greenbelt Boat Ramp in Clarkston, Wash., as well as the Confluence parking area of the Lewiston Levee Parkway in Lewiston, Idaho, will switch to winter hours on Oct. 1.

    Walla Walla, Wash. – Four U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District employees deployed recently to assist the New Orleans District’s support of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Operation Blue Roof mission in Baton Rouge, La., according to district emergency management officials.
  • 20-049 Winter crossing hours resume at Lower Granite Dam

    Clarkston, Wash. – Lower Granite Lock and Dam, near Pomeroy, Wash., has come to the end of its summer hours. Beginning Monday, Sept. 7, the dam returned to the regular 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday through Saturday schedule.
  • 20-048 Little Goose Dam to close public dam crossing Tuesday to perform maintenance

    Starbuck, Wash. – Officials at Little Goose Lock and Dam are closing dam crossings to the public on Tuesday, Sept. 15 in order to perform maintenance on top of the dam.
  • 20-047 Corps to close parts of Lewiston Levee Trail for maintenance

    Parts of the Lewiston Levee Trail near Clearwater landing will be closed on Sept. 10 to accommodate asphalt maintenance work, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials announced today.
