Following is a listing and short description of current volunteer openings:



1. Adopt-A-Trail

Location – DWORSHAK Dam and Reservoir

Description – Adopt-a-Trail is an all-volunteer program that gives the public an opportunity to become actively involved in conserving and maintaining the natural beauty of the Dworshak Dam trails system. Summers only.

2. Visitor Center Front Desk Staff

Location – Dworshak Dam

Description – Help staff the Visitor Center - answer questions, greet the public, provide information, show slide programs and movies, answer phones, brochure stocking.

Note Campsites with full hook-ups available within walking distance of the Visitor Center.

3. Campground Host- Early or late season

Location – Dworshak Reservoir- Dent Acres

Description – Greet the public, provide information, record campground visitation, report to rangers.

Note – Early season: mid-April to mid-May; Late season: mid-September to late November

4. Visitor Center Aide

Location – McNary Lock and Dam, Lake Wallula

Description – Work in the Pacific Salmon Visitor Information Center or McNary Dam Visitor Center assisting the Resource Management staff. The volunteer(s) would staff the front desk, answer visitor questions, and take phone messages. Volunteers may also be asked to give tours and provide care and maintenance of displays and exhibits. Individual or specialized projects may also be available.

5.Campground Host

Location – Dworshak Reservoir- Canyon Creek Campground

Description – Greet the public, provide information, record campground visitation, report to rangers.

Note – Season: Memorial Weekend- Labor Day Weekend.  Campground is primitive, no hook-ups or running water available for hosts.

6. Campground Host

Location – Dworshak Reservoir- Grandad Campground

Description – Greet the public, provide information, record campground visitation, report to rangers.

Note – Season: Memorial Weekend- Labor Day Weekend. Campground is primitive, no hook-ups or running water available for hosts.

7. Park Host

Location – Lower Granite Lake - Swallows Park Boat Ramp, Lewiston, ID

Description – Greet the public, provide information, parking and traffic control, inform uses of boat launch fees, sales of annual boat launch permits, deck hand on patrol boat with ranger on the weekends, assist with water safety outreach program, assist manning county Fair booths, report to Rangers.

Note – Season: April 1 - October 31. Day use area only, full hook-ups available for hosts..
