What is Cost Engineering?

The purpose of Cost Engineering is to provide independent, objective, accurate and reliable capital and operating cost assessments usable for investment funding and project control decisions.

  • Estimates capital costs
  • Estimates operating and manufacturing costs
  • Prepares risk assessment and analysis
  • Surveys trending of scope and cost changes
  • Supports decision analysis
  • Performs financial analysis (e.g., net present value, rate of
        return, etc.)
  • Provides baseline project cost control
  • Appraises existing assets
  • Provides a time & cost schedule to backup the estimates capital,
        operating and manufacturing costs
