The purpose of Cost Engineering is to provide independent, objective, accurate and reliable capital and operating cost assessments usable for investment funding and
project control decisions.
Estimates capital costs
Estimates operating and manufacturing costs
Prepares risk assessment and analysis
Surveys trending of scope and cost changes
Supports decision analysis
Performs financial analysis (e.g., net present value, rate of
return, etc.)
Provides baseline project cost control
Appraises existing assets
Provides a time & cost schedule to backup the estimates capital,
operating and manufacturing costs
