Extract Report of the Walla Walla

Columbia River Basin, Local Flood Protection Projects
Location. Improvements included in this project are along the Columbia River and its tributaries.
Existing project. The Flood Control Act of 1950 approved a general comprehensive plan for the Columbia River Basin for flood control and other purposes based on plans in House Document 531, 81st Congress, 2nd Session, and authorized $75 million to be appropriated for partial accomplishment of certain projects. Of that authorization, an amount not to exceed $15 million was allotted for construction of local flood protection works throughout the Columbia River Basin, subject to conditions that all work undertaken pursuant to authorization would be economically justified prior to construction, and local cooperation specified in the Flood Control Act of 1936, as amended, should be required (see tables 39-B and 39-H, for projects in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District).
Local cooperation. Section 3, Flood Control Act of June 22, 1936, applies.
Operations during the fiscal year. No projects were deauthorized during Fiscal Year 1993.
