Flood Control Work Under Special Authorization
Fiscal year costs were $8,751, which included Salmon, Idaho ($3,820); and the Portneuf River at Pocatello, Idaho ($4,931).
Emergency flood control activities-repair, flood fighting, and rescue work (PL 99, 84th Congress, and antecedent legislation):
Federal costs for the fiscal year were $270,294 for disaster preparedness, and $9,894 for emergency water supplies and drought assistance.
Emergency Bank Protection (Section 14, Flood Control Act of 1946, PL 526, 79th Congress):
Fiscal year costs were $64,468, including completion of Pataha Creek, Pomeroy, Washington (-$2,965); and continuation of three feasibility studies: the Snake River upstream of Blackfoot, Idaho ($23,924); Fort Hall Landmark, Idaho, ($25,449) and Willow Creek downstream of LaCrosse, Washington ($2,638); and initiation of two feasibility studies: Grande Ronde River, Oregon ($2,447), and Little Weiser River near Gladhart Lane ($12,975).
Snagging and clearing of navigable streams and tributaries in interest of flood control (Section 208, Flood Control Act of 1954, PL 780, 83rd Congress):
Fiscal year costs of $8,257 for completing two feasibility studies, including Big Lost River upstream of Arco, Idaho ($7,752); and Little Weiser River upstream of Cambridge, Idaho ($505).
Project modification for the Improvement of the Environment pursuant to Section 1135(b), PL 99-362, as amended:
Fiscal year costs were $64,592 including continuation of Jackson Hole Project, Wyoming ($23,349); and initiation of two new feasibility studies: Portneuf River, Pocatello, Idaho, unit restoration ($34,103); Walla Walla River, Oregon ($2,475); and two new initial appraisal studies: Catherine Creek at Union, Oregon ($22,500) and Upper Grande Ronde, Oregon ($2,165).
