Deploying New Fish Ladder Cooling Systems at Lower Monumental

Staff from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District hoist a new bubbler system onto a vessel for installation on the upstream approach wall at Lower Monumental Dam. This technology cools fish ladder water temperatures to encourage species to continue migrating during spawning. It replaces an older chimney method that, while effective, was significantly more expensive and labor-intensive than the new bubbler system.
