WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- From eastern Washington to northeastern Oregon and Idaho, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District is proud to connect communities with the great outdoors. While the district works daily on critical water and energy infrastructure, it also manages more than 37 recreation areas. Welcoming millions of visitors each year, these public lands support local tourism and promote healthy, active lifestyles by offering:
- Boating, swimming and fishing access
- Campgrounds and picnic areas
- Hiking and wildlife observation trails
- Educational and interpretive programs
To further encourage outdoor engagement, USACE will waive day-use fees at all participating Walla Walla District recreation sites on several days in 2026:
- U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Birthday – June 16
- Independence Day weekend – July 3-5 (celebrating the nation's 250th birthday)
- National Public Lands Day – Sept. 26
- Veterans Day – Nov. 11
Fee waivers apply to day-use amenities such as boat ramps and swimming beaches. Standard fees will remain in place for camping, shelters and special events. Additionally, fee waivers do not apply to USACE lands leased to outside organizations.
