PASCO, Wash. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District will treat invasive flowering rush at Osprey Point in Pasco, Washington, using the herbicide Aquastrike (active ingredients: Diquat and Endothall).
The work is scheduled to take place during the week of July 14 through 18, with the actual treatment planned for July 15.
There are no fishing or swimming restrictions for the treated water after the herbicide application. However, animals should not consume water from the treated area 24 hours after application. Additionally, there is a three-day restriction on using water from the treatment area for drinking or irrigating landscaping, and a five-day restriction on irrigating food crops.
The Walla Walla District will post notices on the shorelines of the areas being treated 48 hours prior to the application.
