RICHLAND, Wash. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has extended the temporary closure of the Columbia Park Trail parking lot and surrounding habitat at the Yakima Delta Habitat Management Unit through Aug. 21 for the ongoing Amon Creek restoration project.
This extension, prompted by an accelerated contractor schedule, will limit future closures.
The parking lot and HMU will partially reopen as soon as conditions are safe. USACE appreciates the public’s patience while construction is underway.
Last year, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Walla Walla District, issued a five-year construction license to the Benton Conservation District (BCD) for the Amon Creek Habitat Restoration Project, a $1.2 million initiative aimed at improving fish habitat and migration conditions at the Yakima Delta Habitat Management Unit near McNary Lock and Dam.
