WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Recent wildland fires have damaged several Habitat Management Units along the Snake River managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District.
These lands, which provide habitat for a variety of and offer public recreation opportunities for fishing, hunting, and hiking, may be unsafe this fall due to extensive fire damage. Hunters and others planning to visit these lands should adjust their plans accordingly. Visitors should be aware of changing conditions, prioritize safety, and remain alert to degraded habitat and hazardous terrain.
HMUs with significant burning include, but are not limited to:
- Lower Snake River West
- Hollebeke HMU
- 55 Mile HMU
- Skookum HMU
- Lower Snake River East
- Lyons Ferry HMU
- Texas Rapids HMU
- Little Goose Landing HMU
