Lt. Col. Wallace Bandeff

Lieutenant Colonel Wallace Bandeff assumed the role of Deputy District Commander, Walla Walla District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on 24 July, 2020. Lieutenant Colonel Bandeff is responsible for management and oversight of all G&A Staff sections as well as performing the duties of the Commander in his absence. He provides support, guidance and mentorship to district personnel.

LTC Bandeff earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Michigan Technological University where he commissioned through the ROTC program. He holds a Master’s of Science degree in Geological Engineering from the Missouri University of Science & Technology. LTC Bandeff is a graduate of the Command & General Staff Officer College, the Engineer Captains Career Course, and the Engineer Officer Basic Course. He earned the Project Management Professional credential from the Project Management Institute in 2014. 

LTC Bandeff arrived from Fort Campbell, KY and the 101st Airborne Division where he served as the executive officer of the 21st Brigade Engineer Battalion.  Previously, he was assigned to the Division Engineer section managing power projection improvement projects.  LTC Bandeff also deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel and served as the deputy director for operations as a member of the Division Headquarters and United States Forces Afghanistan staff. 

His previous Corps experience includes assignments in the Omaha and Alaska Districts.  In the Omaha District LTC Bandeff served in multiple positions supporting military construction and civil works projects.  In support of the Transatlantic Division, LTC Bandeff deployed to Iraq with the Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve.  Later assignments included the Garrison Project Office and the Omaha District executive office.  While with the Alaska District, LTC Bandeff was a project engineer supporting military construction. 

LTC Bandeff has previously held positions at Fort Knox, Kentucky as the 76th Engineer Company commander and 19th Engineer Battalion plans and training officer.  His initial station was Fort Wainwright, Alaska where he served as a company executive officer and platoon leader.  While stationed in Alaska he deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. 

His awards include the Bronze Star Medal (1 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal (2 OLC), Joint Service Commendation Medal (1 OLC, C Device), Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Department of State Superior Honor Award, and the NATO medal.  He is authorized to wear the Sapper tab and Air Assault and Parachutist badges. 

LTC Bandeff, his wife Janet, and their daughter Leah spend their downtime enjoying the great outdoors.  They look forward to hiking, biking, fishing, and exploring the Great Northwest.
