Macks Creek

Macks Creek Campground is a 14-site family-friendly campground and Lucky Peak’s only vehicle-accessible camping area.  The campground is open and staffed by volunteers from approximately May 15 to September 15.  Advance reservations are required to utilize the sites which can be made online at https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/233313. A kid-friendly swim cove near the center of the park offers a sandy beach area with play equipment, a buoy-enclosed shallow swim area, and a Lifejacket Loaner Station.  Macks Creek Campground is a great destination for lesser-experienced campers, those with children, and others who would prefer what closer-to-home outings can offer.

A campsite at Macks Creek Campground consists of a site for either tent or RV use, assigned parking, a fire pit, a picnic table, and a lantern pole.  Tent sites are well shaded by either shade structures or mature trees while RV sites provide shade canopies for the table only.  This area is “dry camping”, meaning there are no hook-ups, waterborne facilities, nor dump stations; however, a hand pump near the Camp Host site provides potable drinking water.  Use of the boat ramp is for reserved campers only.  Dock strings are shared among all reservation holders.  Lighted restrooms, an emergency phone, and regular ranger patrols through the summer months give added peace of mind.
