In 2013, the Turner Fire ignited from a campsite on Lucky Peak Lake and quickly engulfed hundreds of acres of sagebrush steppe habitat – critical winter range for wintering Mule Deer and Elk, and important habitat to ground-nesting birds. Visitors must take care with fire at Lucky Peak Lake, placing them in Agency-provided grills, attending them at all times, and fully extinguishing them before departure.
