USACE collaborates with City of Gooding to reduce flood risk, improve safety
GOODING, Idaho – A deteriorating vehicular bridge along the Little Wood River, a tributary of the Big Wood River in Idaho’s Magic Valley, which cuts through the City of Gooding, is pictured, March 28. The bridge’s antiquated construction concept is one of five along the channel which contributes to ice jams during cold winters, resulting in limited conveyance capacity and potential flooding in the city. Representatives from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, joined city officials to sign a project partnership agreement defining shared responsibilities and commitments for the joint rehabilitation efforts of the channel walls to minimize flood risk and increase safety, March 28.
