Lower Snake River Boat Basin Dredging

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, invites public comments on the Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Environmental Assessment (EA) for the proposed Lower Snake River Boat Basin Dredging under the Lower Snake River Programmatic Sediment Management Plan (PSMP).

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District (USACE), proposes to conduct maintenance dredging activities at up to 14 USACE-managed boat basins/ramps along the Lower Snake River, located within Columbia, Franklin, Whitman, Garfield, and Asotin Counties, Washington. The proposed action is tiered from the 2014 PSMP and is intended to restore authorized design depths, ensure safe and reliable recreational navigation, maintain public access, and support basin functionality consistent with the project’s authorized purposes. The proposed action would be implemented using a combination of mechanical and hydraulic methods. The project also includes the transport of dredged material to designated upland drying areas and final disposal sites located above the ordinary high-water mark and outside of wetland boundaries.

The 30-day public comment period starts on September 19, 2025, and concludes on October 18, 2025. Comments must be postmarked or emailed no later than October 18, 2025, to be considered as part of the public record. Comments should be mailed to:
