Barber Pool Conservation Area, Ecosystem Restoration Feasibility Study

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District (USACE) has released the draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Feasibility Report with integrated Environmental Assessment (FR/EA) for the Barber Pool Ecosystem Restoration Study for a 30-day public review and comment period.

Study Background

This FR/EA evaluates the proposed restoration of the Barber Pool Conservation Area within the Boise River corridor to enhance aquatic habitats and riparian ecosystem functions. This study was conducted under the authority of Section 1135 of the Water Resources Development Act of 1986, as amended.

Public Comments

A core pillar of the NEPA process is the engagement of Interested Parties, including Federal, state, and local agencies, Tribal nations, and the public. Public comment provides a critical mechanism for USACE to receive site-specific insights and ensure a transparent environmental review. This FR/EA and draft FONSI will be made available for a 30-day public comment period beginning on February 27, 2026, and concluding on or around March 30, 2026.

Two Online Open Houses will be provided by the Project Manager to go over the Report and answer any questions from public. These are scheduled to occur:
