16-083 Lower Monumental Dam closed to public vehicles Dec. 1 through Jan. 7

Published Nov. 28, 2016
KAHLOTUS, Wash. – Public vehicle traffic across Lower Monumental Lock and Dam will be temporarily suspended Dec. 1, 2016, through Jan. 7, 2017, while maintenance crews clean river debris from the turbine intake trash racks, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, operations officials at the dam.

This work requires the intake deck roadway to be closed to vehicle traffic, allowing workers to safely use a large mobile crane to facilitate debris removal efforts, said Lower Monumental Dam’s Chief of Operations Cody Crowder.

Travelers are encouraged to check the dam-crossing information line for updates 1-888-DAM-INFO (1-888-326-4636).

The nearest vehicle bridges across the Snake River are located on State Highway 12, near Burbank, and on Highway 261, near Starbuck.
