Lower Granite schedules eight-hour navigation lock closures Dec. 5-7 to install backup generator; cross-dam vehicle traffic could experience delays

POMEROY, Wash. – Lower Granite Dam’s navigation lock, located at Snake River Mile 107.5 near Pomeroy, Wash., will close to all river traffic from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Dec. 5, 6 and 7, according to operations officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District.

Rangers offer guided hikes through McNary Wildlife Area Nov. 25-26

UMATILLA, Ore. – Every autumn, flocks of ducks descend upon the ponds along the Columbia River at the McNary Wildlife Nature Area, about one mile downstream of McNary Lock and Dam on the Oregon shoreline. As winter approaches, more ducks and other wildlife can be seen throughout the nature area.
