20-009 Corps to construct a new fishing platform; Temporary closure of Evans Pond scheduled

Published Feb. 27, 2020

CLARKSTON, Wash. – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will be implementing a new fishing platform at Evans Pond, located at Snake River Mile 134, downriver from Clarkston.

For worker and visitor safety, the park will be closed from March 9 to 20. During that time Evans Pond will be under construction for the new fishing platform.

“Currently there is limited access due to the steep angle of the shoreline, and no ADA [Americans with Disabilities Act] access at all”, Matthew DeBerard, Wildlife Biologist for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said. “This new floating fishing platform will resolve both of these issues, as we will also be installing a graded path to the platform.”

The temporary closures of Evans Pond is needed to provide the work crew with safe access to the entire area.
