22-078 Walla Walla District to begin dredging the lower Snake River navigation channel

Snake River, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District will begin dredging the lower Snake River navigation channel beginning in January.

The dredging will remove accumulated sediment from the federal navigation channel below the Ice Harbor Lock and Dam navigation lock near Pasco, Washington, and near the confluence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers near Clarkston, Washington, and Lewiston, Idaho.

All dredged sediment will be disposed of at an in-water location near Bishop Bar (north shore) located at River Mile 118 on the lower Snake River in Washington.

The $5.8 million contract for the dredging was awarded to HME Construction Inc., a general contractor in Vancouver, Washington. Work will begin within the next month and conclude before the end of the in-water work window on March 1, 2023.
