Visitor Center & Esplanade

Start your visit at the Visitor Center where USACE Park Rangers and USAVE Volunteers are available to answer questions and help you get oriented.

Pick up official brochures and maps of USACE recreational areas.

Children can get started with coloring and activity books.

Engage with interpretive exhibits and learn about Migrating Fish, Hydropower, River Navigation, Environmental Stewardship, Recreation, Wildlife and other Army Corps Missions at Lower Granite.

Experience migrating species ascending the fish ladder at the viewing window.
Tour our grounds and facilities with a USACE Park Ranger or USACE Volunteer.
You can watch Powering the Northwest and other informational videos in the theatre.
Enjoy great views of the Lower Granite Lock & Dam and the Snake River on the Visitor Center Esplanade.

Then, enjoy exploring! The Visitor Center is a great starting point for recreation opportunities along the Lower Snake River.

  • Closed-toe shoes
  • Photo ID required for 18+
  • No bags or cameras in secured areas
  • Tours available for larger groups with prior appointment

Fish Viewing Window and Bookstore

Fish Viewing Window
Get an up-close look at the many species of fish that make the Snake River their home.

Marvel at the convergence of nature and ingenuity as migrating fish traverse the fish ladder.

Books, educational items and gifts are available to purchase from the Discover Your Northwest Bookstore inside the Visitor Center.

The Lower Granite Visitor Center is a gateway to recreational opportunities on both Lower Granite Lake and Lake Bryan.

Dam Crossing

Daily from 7 a.m. through 5 p.m., except for federal holidays unless otherwise announced.

  • Tour and school buses must contact the dam at 509-843-1493 at least 24 hours in advance for crossing authorization.
    • Extended Crossing hours Friday, Saturday and Sunday until 7pm (Memorial Day-Labor Day)
