18-130 Walla Walla District announces holiday closures

Wash., Ore., Idaho – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, facilities and offices will temporarily close for several days during the Christmas and New Year’s holiday season.

All District facilities and offices in Oregon, Washington and Idaho will temporarily close on Dec. 24-25, 2018, and Jan. 1, 2019.

An Executive Order issued Dec. 18 directed “All executive departments and agencies of the Federal Government shall be closed and their employees excused from duty on Monday, December 24, 2018, the day before Christmas Day.” https://www.whitehouse.gov/presidential-actions/executive-order-providing-closing-executive-departments-agencies-federal-government-december-24-2018.

All three dams on the lower Snake River in Washington which allow public vehicle crossings -- Lower Granite Lock and Dam, near Pomeroy; Little Goose, near Starbuck; and Lower Monumental, near Kahlotus -- will be closed to public access for crossing on those federal holidays. Additionally, Lower Monumental will be closed to public vehicle crossings on Dec. 31.

Dworshak Dam and Reservoir’s Visitor Center will be closed Dec. 24, 2018, through Jan. 1, 2019.

Recreation areas and boat launches will remain open for visitors. Camping reservations are not affected by federal holiday closures.
