Published Nov. 19, 2019

RICHLAND, Wash. – If you are interested in potential cost-effective actions to improve the habitat of fish and wildlife in the Yakima River delta, then you should plan on attending the open-house public scoping meeting on the Yakima Delta Ecosystem Restoration Feasibility Study on Wednesday, Nov. 20, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m at the Richland Community Center.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District and Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife will host this event at the Richland Community Center at 500 Amon Park Drive of Richland, Washington.

The project will examine potential cost-effective actions to improve the habitat of fish and wildlife in the Yakima River delta by restoring ecosystem structure, function, and dynamic processes degraded or lost following the construction and operation of McNary Lock and Dam.  These actions may include channel modification, shallow water habitat development, invasive riparian plant removal, native species plantings, fish predator habitat elimination, and fish passage barrier removal.

The comment period will be open from Nov. 20 to Dec. 19.
