AHSAHKA, Idaho. – With schools starting up and the summer recreation season winding down, Dworshak Dam’s Visitor Center hours of operation and boat ramp availabilities are changing.

As of Sept. 7, the Visitor Center will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and closed on federal holidays. No public tours will be offered, however school tours are available.

The boat ramps at Big Eddy, Bruce’s Eddy 1, Grandad, Dent Acres and Freeman Creek (Dworshak State Park) currently provide access to the reservoir. The boat ramp at Grandad will most likely be out of the water shortly after Labor Day weekend.

Visitors should be aware that the reservoir is still dropping, as reservoir outflows are used to help keep downstream river temperatures cool for migrating salmon and steelhead. Visitors leaving their boats tied on the shoreline, whether they are hunting or camping at the mini-camps along the reservoir, should be sure to leave extra line when tying off their vessels and check them periodically.

For more information about recreational opportunities or scheduling school tours please contact the Dworshak Dam Visitor Center at 208-476-1255.
