23-14 Corps extends public comment period for the Yakima River Delta Restoration Project

RICHLAND, WA – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, is extending the public comment period for the Yakima River Delta Restoration Project until April 10.

The original 30-day comment period began January 30 and concluded today, March 10. However, USACE is extending the comment period for an additional 30 days, from March 10 to April 10.

On January 30, USACE released the Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment (FR/EA) for the Yakima River Delta Ecosystem Restoration Study. These documents are available on the Corps’ website at: www.nww.usace.army.mil/Missions/Environmental-Compliance/.

There are three methods for submitting public comments. Electronic comments can be submitted directly online at: http://www.nww.usace.army.mil/EnvironmentalComplianceComment/ or via email to NEPANWW@usace.army.mil, inserting “Yakima River Delta Restoration Project” in the subject line. U.S. Mail comments should be postmarked by the deadline to:

The Corps and the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife are partnering on an ecosystem restoration along the Lower Yakima River in Richland, Washington. The project goal is to restore riparian and aquatic habitat and ecosystem functions for the benefit of Endangered Species Act-listed salmonids, other fish, birds, and wildlife in the study area at the Yakima River Delta and, where possible, provide education and recreation access.
