CLARKSTON, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District has re-opened the Greenbelt Boat Ramp day use area to vehicle, boat and pedestrian traffic.
The closure allowed USACE staff time to distribute relevant information about day-use areas in the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley and determine where increased ranger patrols are necessary. These mitigating factors have reduced concerns for public and employee safety.
Additional closures at Asotin Slough, Evans Pond, and Golf Course Pond have been lifted as well. With Asotin Slough re-opening on Friday, February 16 and Evans and Golf Course Ponds re-opening yesterday. These closures allowed staff to address damages associated with several vandalism incidents.
The Walla Walla District’s day use areas within the Lewiston-Clarkston Valley are open from 7:30 am to sunset, unless otherwise posted. Camping, habitation or overnight stays are not permitted within day use areas. The use of tents and other constructs are also banned. Abandoned or cached property left within day use areas after operating hours will be subject to removal. Failure to abide by these and other posted rules will subject offenders to removal and citations.
