Little Goose Dam navigation lock temporarily closed

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, has temporarily closed the navigation lock at Little Goose Lock and Dam following an incident on the evening of June 2, involving a non-government vehicle on the facility’s bascule bridge.

No injuries were reported. The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office responded to document the incident.

Efforts are underway to safely reposition the vehicle and restore normal lock operations. The minimum estimated time for resuming service is approximately five hours, pending safety and environmental compliance assessments.

The navigation lock has been marked out of service in the Lock Performance Monitoring System (LPMS). The U.S. Coast Guard has been notified, and a Notice to Navigational Interests (NTNI) has been issued.
