As the summer recreation season winds down, the Dworshak Dam and Reservoir Visitor Center has adjusted its hours of operation.

The visitor center will be open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and closed on federal holidays. Scheduled school tours will be available; however, public tours will not be offered.

"Now is an excellent time to inspect your life jackets," said Lead Park Ranger Chris Miller. He recommends boaters check for rips, damage, broken buckles, and proper fit as they prepare their vessels for storage. Miller also reminds visitors to return any Dworshak loaner life jackets to a loaner station or the visitor center. "We also welcome donations of extra life jackets or those that no longer fit," he added.

Dworshak Dam also offers the America the Beautiful Lifetime Senior Pass. U.S. citizens or permanent residents age 62 or older can purchase this pass for $80, offering free day-use access and a 50% discount on camping at all federal recreation areas. The pass is available at the Dworshak Dam Visitor Center and may be purchased with cash or check. The Visitor Center also has five other passes available that offer a range of discounts- a yearly pass for seniors, a yearly pass for all others, a handicapped pass, and a veteran’s pass. For questions concerning passes and current conditions, call 208-476-1255 during business hours.

Reservations for Dent Acres camping can be made up to six months in advance, and the Dent Group Camping area can be reserved up to one year in advance. Make reservations by calling 877-444-6777 or visiting www.recreation.gov.
