The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, in partnership with MacNak Construction LLC, will begin reconstructing portions of 3rd Street and Scaplehorn Road near McNary Lock and Dam on Monday, Aug. 25.

The project will replace the roadway subbase and asphalt layers and add new pavement markings and signage on 3rd Street from Brownell Boulevard to Devore Road, along with Scaplehorn Road south of 3rd Street to the Laydown Yard gravel access road.

For public and construction crew safety, 3rd Street will be closed in two alternating sections. The east section extends from Devore Road to the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) substation, and the west section extends from the BPA substation to Brownell Boulevard.

Work will begin with the east section first on Aug. 25 and then move to the west section on Sept. 9, with project completion estimated on Sept. 30.

This project will ensure continued safe and reliable access to McNary Lock and Dam for visitors and staff
