New Mill Creek Office pedestrian bridge installation set for May 8-10; intermittent parking lot closures likely to occur

Published May 8, 2012

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Work to install a pedestrian bridge across Yellowhawk Creek may require intermittent closures of the Mill Creek Office parking lot May 8-10 between the hours of 5 a.m. to 6 p.m., U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials announced today.

The temporary closures will be necessary to accommodate contractors’ use of a large crane needed to maneuver and install a pre-fabricated bridge across Yellowhawk Creek near the new Mill Creek Office building site. The footbridge will allow easy public and employee access to the new office from the parking lot.

The south levee (the unpaved side of Mill Creek) will remain open to visitors during this time.  Visitors are encouraged to use the parking area at Rooks Park and take the paved trails to the north side of Mill Creek -- a footbridge across the creek allows access to the south levee trails, the existing office and Bennington Lake.

Visitors needing to meet with Mill Creek Office staff during this time should call the office at 509-527-7160 to arrange to meet staff outside the bridge-installation work area.
