Dworshak seeks IDPR grant to install picnic shelters at Dam View Campground

Published Feb. 3, 2011

AHSAHKA, Idaho –  The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Dworshak Dam and Reservoir, has applied for an Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation (IDPR) Recreational Vehicle Grant to install three picnic shelters at Dam View Campground, located near the communities of Orofino and Ahsahka.

Installation of the three picnic shelters would enhance the semi-primitive campground, making it more attractive to recreational vehicle users who wish to camp near the Big Eddy Day-Use Area which hosts a popular Corps-managed boat launch, swim beach and day-use area, plus an IDPR-managed marina.

The shelters would also provide an important amenity for visitors who wish to camp near town for the convenience of fuel, groceries, shopping, dining and medical facilities.

The requested grant would total $15,150. In addition, the Corps would commit $4,188 in labor, equipment, fire rings and other improvement supplies.
