Triathlon to affect Lucky Peak Dam area access starting June 7

BOISE, Idaho – A community-sponsored triathlon athletic event will be held at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Lucky Peak Dam and Lake June 7 through June 11, affecting visitor access to some recreation areas during those days.

Various closures are planned as follows: At 10 p.m. on Tuesday, June 7, Barclay Bay will be closed until approximately 10 p.m. on Saturday, June 11. At 10 p.m. on Thursday, June 9, both Lucky Peak Dam and Turner Gulch day use and boating area will be closed until immediately following the Ironman Boise event on Saturday, June 11. Closures are allowed per a Corps’ special-use permit.

     Access will be restricted at the intersection of the dam crest road and Highway 21. Boat launching and day-use activities will remain available at all other Lucky Peak Dam and Lake recreation areas, including Spring Shores Marina, Macks Creek Park and launch ramp, Mores Creek Park, and Robie Creek Park and launch ramp.
