Published Oct. 23, 2014

PASCO, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Walla Walla District (Corps), invites public comments on the Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Environmental Assessment (EA) for issuance of an easement to Pasco, Wash., for the installation of a new water intake structure. Comments are due no later than Nov. 20.

The Corps proposes to issue an easement to Pasco for the construction, operation and maintenance of a water intake facility located (in part) on Corps-managed federal land at approximately Columbia River Mile 336.3. Construction of the new water intake facility would assist the city in meeting its current and projected demands for both potable and irrigation water.

The Corps prepared an Environmental Assessment (EA) to address potential effects associated with the water intake facility within the proposed Corps-easement area. As part of National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance, the Corps is inviting public comment on the EA and draft FONSI. The Corps is required to consider all comments received. The EA and draft FONSI are available on the Corps website at www.nww.usace.army.mil/Missions/EnvironmentalCompliance/PascoWaterIntake.aspx.

Public comments must be e-mailed or postmarked no later than Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, to NEPANWW@usace.army.mil; or U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; CENWW-PD-EC -- Pasco Water Intake; 201 North 3rd Ave.; Walla Walla, WA 99362-1876.
