17-080 - Corps seeks public input for Lucky Peak Dam and Lake’s Lake View Trail EA

BOISE, Idaho – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District (Corps), invites public scoping comments for an Environmental Assessment (EA) addressing a proposed mountain bike trail at Lucky Peak Dam and Lake near Boise, Idaho. Written comments will be accepted until July 28, 2017.

The Corps proposes to construct a mountain bike trail from Lucky Peak Dam to the Chimney Rock park area. The project proponent is the Southwest Idaho Mountain Bike Association, a non-profit organization that would provide volunteer labor and equipment for construction of the proposed trail.

The EA will address the project background, the purpose and need, environmental issues relating to trail construction, potential impacts resulting from the alternatives considered (including the no action alternative), and public involvement and agency coordination. The Corps seeks public scoping input on relevant issues and environmental effects that should be considered. Scoping comments will be used to 1) identify potential and key issues to address, 2) explore project alternatives, and 3) identify potential environmental effects associated with the proposed action.

Written comments will be accepted until July 28, 2017. All information and comments received will become part of the permanent public record.
