BOISE, Idaho – The Walla Walla District Corps of Engineers (USACE) will be holding a virtual public meeting on November 3 to discuss the details of the Lucky Peak Dam Safety Action Classification (DSAC) change.
The event will be streamed on the Walla Walla District Corps of Engineers’ YouTube channel.
Every 10 years USACE conducts a Periodic Assessment of its dams. Our most recent Periodic Assessment reaffirmed that Lucky Peak Dam is in excellent physical condition and performing as designed. However, this Periodic Assessment also used advanced technology to improve our estimate of the consequence of dam failure, an estimate that was changed largely due to significant increases in population in the affected areas of the Treasure Valley.
USACE is also updating its National Inventory of Dams (NID) to provide flood inundation maps and will make these maps available to the public in late November 2021.
Those wanting to tune in to the live event can watch starting Wednesday at https://www.youtube.com/user/WallaWallaUSACE
Questions can be emailed to NWWLuckyPeakDSAC@usace.army.mil before or after the event. More information can be found online starting Wednesday here.
