    POMEROY, Wash. -- The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District, is promoting public safety and encouraging visitors to recreate responsibly in partnership with Garfield County Sheriff Office, Whitman County Sheriff Office, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Washington State Patrol and Washington State University Police Department.

  • 23-042 Repaving project at Dent Acres Campground moved to 2024

    Ahsahka, Idaho –Dent Acres Campground will be closed for camping between August 1 and September 30, 2024, due to a repaving project.

  • 23-041 Little Goose Dam closes public crossings due to maintenance

    Starbuck, WASH. – Officials at Little Goose Lock and Dam are closing dam crossings to the public from August 7 through August 9 to perform maintenance on a transformer. This work requires the use of heavy equipment that will impede traffic.

  • BLM temporarily closing portions of the Boise Foothills for public safety

    BOISE, Idaho–The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Four Rivers Field Office is temporarily closing approximately 4,500 acres of BLM-managed public land in the Boise Foothills to all forms of public access, as a safety precaution due to the Hulls Fire. The Hulls Fire, reported on July 6, at approximately 11:30 p.m., is located off 8th Street in Hulls Gulch. The fire is burning within the Ridge to Rivers Trail System, in an area of unexploded munitions as part of the former Boise Army Barracks artillery range, roughly three miles northeast of Boise.

  • 23-039 Corps seeks public input for McNary Master Plan revision

    UMATILLA, Ore.– The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District has prepared a draft McNary Master Plan with an accompanying draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Environmental Assessment (EA) to revise the outdated 1982 McNary Master Plan. The Walla Walla District will be accepting public comments from July 10 through Aug. 10.

    Clarkston, Wash – The Lower Granite Natural Resource Management office has reopened the boat ramp at Wawawai Landing.

  • 23-037 Corps to treat Lake Wallula to control invasive flowering rush

    WALLA WALLA, WA– The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District will be performing up to five five-acre treatments in Lake Wallula, the McNary reservoir near the Tri-Cities, Washington, with herbicide, Diquat Dibromide, at an application rate of two gallons per surface acre. This effort is to control the invasive aquatic plant species flowering rush.

  • 23-036 Dworshak dam increasing releases on Friday to balance full pool

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Releases from Dworshak Dam will increase to match inflow into the reservoir. This operation is intended to maintain the reservoir at its full pool.

  • Trail from Southway Bridge to Riverside Drive will be closed until further notice

    Clarkston, Wash. – The Lower Granite Natural Resource Management Office has closed the trail from the southside of the Southway Bridge down to Riverside Drive until further notice due to heavy rainfall undercutting the trail.

  • Wawawai Landing Boat Ramp Closed for Repair Work

    Clarkston, Wash – The Lower Granite Natural Resource Management office has closed the boat ramp at Wawawai Landing until further notice to assess the ramp’s condition and perform needed repairs.
