USACE urges boating safety near dams

WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Walla Walla District reminds boaters to stay clear of boat restricted zones near dams after a disabled recreational boat drifted into the restricted area near McNary Lock and Dam on Monday, July 6.

KAHLOTUS, Wash. – Recent routine inspections at Lower Monumental Lock and Dam resulted in an important dam safety discovery, a trunnion on Spillway Gate 3 had friction levels outside of the safe operating range.
