    15-029 Summer recreational vessel lockage schedule begins May 15

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- Friday, May 15, marks the start of the summer schedule for recreational boaters using navigation locks to travel past U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams on the Columbia and Snake rivers, according to Corps navigation planners.

    15-028 Lucky Peak temporarily closes dam road; morning reopening anticipated

    BOISE, Idaho. – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers staff at Lucky Peak Dam and Lake temporarily closed the road across the dam at about 9 a.m. today when work in progress to install trilateration monuments along the dam required a larger drilling rig than initially anticipated, making it necessary to close both lanes of the road. Corps staff anticipate reopening one lane of the roadway at about 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, with flagger-controlled traffic assistance.

    15-027 Dworshak Reservoir on track for early fill; water managers balance operational requirements, maximize recreation opportunities during “very unusual” inflows

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Below-average snowpack in the Clearwater sub-basin and uncertain inflows from future weather conditions add up to an earlier-than-normal fill planned for Dworshak Reservoir, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers water-management officials.

    15-026 Corps invites public comments on draft FONSI for Aberdeen Waste Water Collection project

    ABERDEEN, Idaho – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District invites public comments on a Draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the “City of Aberdeen, Idaho, Waste Water Collection System Improvements Project.” Comments will be accepted beginning today, April 8, 2015, and are due to the Corps no later than Wednesday, April 22, 2015.

    15-025 Corps proceeds with Dworshak forest, vegetation management; awards sale of beetle-infested Dworshak timber harvest

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – On March 3, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded the sale of 122 acres of timber in the area east of Dent Bridge at Dworshak Reservoir. The approximately 2-million board-feet of timber was selected for harvest to contain and control an outbreak of Douglas fir beetle.

    15-023 Lower Granite Dam bridge pier repair delayed to tonight 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

    POMEROY, Wash. – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers repairs to a bridge pier on Almota Ferry Road in Garfield County near Lower Granite Dam have been delayed to tonight, March 27. As a result, the bridge and short section of Almota Ferry Road is planned to be closed tonight beginning at 6 p.m. and ending about 10 p.m., to allow the repair. The bridge is located on Almota Ferry Road leading to the south-shore entrance across Lower Granite Dam, and provides public access to dam crossings, the Offield Landing campground and boat launch area, and lower Wawawai Grade Road.

    POMEROY, Wash. – A portion of Almota Ferry Road in Garfield County near Lower Granite Dam is planned to be closed Thursday evening, March 26, beginning at 6 p.m. and ending about 10 p.m., to allow the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to repair a bridge pier. The bridge is located on Almota Ferry Road leading to the south-shore entrance across Lower Granite Dam, and provides public access to dam crossings, the Offield Landing area and lower Wawawai Grade Road.
