    POMEROY, Wash. – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers repairs to a bridge pier on Almota Ferry Road in Garfield County near Lower Granite Dam have been delayed to tonight, March 27. As a result, the bridge and short section of Almota Ferry Road is planned to be closed tonight beginning at 6 p.m. and ending about 10 p.m., to allow the repair. The bridge is located on Almota Ferry Road leading to the south-shore entrance across Lower Granite Dam, and provides public access to dam crossings, the Offield Landing campground and boat launch area, and lower Wawawai Grade Road.

  • 15-019 Elk Creek Meadows prescribed burn planned for Saturday through Tuesday at Dworshak

    AHSAHKA, Idaho - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Natural Resources staff at Dworshak Dam and Reservoir will work with Clearwater-Nez Perce National Forest fire crews to conduct prescribed burning in the vicinity of Dicks Creek and Elk Creek Meadows beginning on Saturday afternoon, March 7. Prescribed burning may continue through Tuesday afternoon, March 10. Visitors to the area should expect to see smoke or fire in the vicinity of the burn.

  • 15-015 Corps completes Snake-Clearwater rivers maintenance dredging

    LOWER SNAKE RIVER, Washington – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today completed maintenance dredging of problem areas of the federal navigation channel and two port berthing areas in the Snake and Clearwater rivers where accumulated sediment had interfered with navigation. Dredging was performed to meet a current immediate need to re-establish the federal navigation channel to its congressionally authorized dimensions of 250 feet wide by 14 feet deep at Minimum Operating Pool (MOP) elevation. Dredging began Jan. 12.

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Water discharges from Dworshak Dam near Orofino, Idaho, will increase from 5,800 cubic feet per second (c.f.s.) to 9,900 c.f.s. on Saturday, Feb. 14, to manage the reservoir for seasonal flood-control-space objectives, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers water-management staff at the Walla Walla District announced today.
