    AHSAHKA, Idaho - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District (Corps) invites public comments on the draft Dworshak Reservoir Master Plan, related Environmental Assessment (EA) and draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI). Comments are due no later than April 9.

  • 15-019 Elk Creek Meadows prescribed burn planned for Saturday through Tuesday at Dworshak

    AHSAHKA, Idaho - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Natural Resources staff at Dworshak Dam and Reservoir will work with Clearwater-Nez Perce National Forest fire crews to conduct prescribed burning in the vicinity of Dicks Creek and Elk Creek Meadows beginning on Saturday afternoon, March 7. Prescribed burning may continue through Tuesday afternoon, March 10. Visitors to the area should expect to see smoke or fire in the vicinity of the burn.

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct routine annual inspections, preventative maintenance and repairs at all navigation locks on the Columbia and Snake rivers over the next several weeks.

  • 15-017 Levee maintenance to require temporary trail closures

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. –The paved trail on the north side of Mill Creek -- from Rooks Park to the metal bridge at the Mill Creek Project Office parking lot -- will be temporarily closed to all visitors Monday and Tuesday, March 9-10, from 7:30 a.m.to 3:30 p.m., to accommodate the pruning and mowing of shrubs/grasses on the water side of the federally managed portion of the Mill Creek Levee System, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers operations officials announced today.

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – As part of its environmental stewardship mission, the Walla Walla District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites public comments until April 2, 2015, on the draft Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and Environmental Assessment (EA) for “Mosquito Control Activities Licenses for Benton County, Franklin County, Columbia and West Umatilla Mosquito Control Districts (MCD).”

  • 15-015 Corps completes Snake-Clearwater rivers maintenance dredging

    LOWER SNAKE RIVER, Washington – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers today completed maintenance dredging of problem areas of the federal navigation channel and two port berthing areas in the Snake and Clearwater rivers where accumulated sediment had interfered with navigation. Dredging was performed to meet a current immediate need to re-establish the federal navigation channel to its congressionally authorized dimensions of 250 feet wide by 14 feet deep at Minimum Operating Pool (MOP) elevation. Dredging began Jan. 12.

  • 14-014 Dworshak discharge flows to increase overnight

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – Water discharges from Dworshak Dam near Orofino, Idaho, will increase from 5,800 cubic feet per second (c.f.s.) to 9,900 c.f.s. on Saturday, Feb. 14, to manage the reservoir for seasonal flood-control-space objectives, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers water-management staff at the Walla Walla District announced today.

  • 15-013 Lower Granite open for vehicle crossings on Monday holiday; Travelers should plan alternate routes across river at ‘LoMo’ and Little Goose dams

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – If your upcoming Washington’s Birthday weekend plans include a road trip to visit family and friends on the opposite side of the lower Snake River, you may want to keep in mind that U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams are closed to cross-dam public vehicle traffic on federal holidays, unless otherwise announced. Lower Granite Lock and Dam, near Pomeroy, Wash., will be open for public vehicle crossings on Washington’s Birthday, Monday, Feb. 16. Two other dams which normally allow crossings will be closed on the holiday -- Little Goose, near Starbuck, Wash.; and Lower Monumental, near Kahlotus, Wash.

  • 15-012 Lower Granite Dam reopens for vehicle crossings

    POMEROY, Wash. – Public vehicle access across Lower Granite Lock and Dam reopened this morning after contractors completed construction of a temporary buttress on one of the bridge pier foundations for the Almota Ferry Road leading to the south-shore entrance across the dam.
