    14-068 Illia Dunes closed until further notice due to visitors’ trash and health concerns

    POMEROY, Wash. – Illia Dunes was closed yesterday, Sept. 7, until further notice due to significant environmental damage, and potential public health and safety concerns after recent heavy visitation and trash accumulation.

    14-067 McNary navigation lock to temporarily close Sept. 8-10

    UMATILLA, Ore. – McNary Dam’s navigation lock, located at Columbia River Mile 292, near Umatilla, Ore., will be temporarily closed to all river traffic on Thursday, Sept. 8-10, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, according to U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ operations officials.

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. -- With school soon to start again, many people flock to riverside recreation areas to bank-up on some outdoor fun in the sun before hitting the books. As the nation's largest federal provider of water-based recreation, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers stresses water safety and urges extra caution while in or around water during the upcoming Labor Day holiday.

    14-063 Lower Granite open for vehicle crossings on Monday holiday; Travelers should plan alternate routes across river at ‘LoMo’ and Little Goose dams on Labor Day

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – If your upcoming Labor Day weekend plans include a road trip to visit family and friends on the opposite side of the lower Snake River, you may want to keep in mind that most U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dams are closed to cross-dam public vehicle traffic on federal holidays, unless otherwise announced.

    14-059 Corps invites public review of Lower Snake River Programmatic Sediment Management Plan Final EIS

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Walla Walla District of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers invites public review and comments on the Lower Snake River Final Programmatic Sediment Management Plan and Final Environmental Impact Statement (PSMP EIS). The PSMP EIS comment period is planned to open Aug. 22, 2014, when the notice of availability is published in the Federal Register, and runs through Sept. 22.
