Three other power team members departed Saturday.

  • 13-061 - Elk Creek Meadows prescribed burn planned for Sunday and Monday at Dworshak

    AHSAHKA, Idaho – U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Natural Resources staff at Dworshak Dam and Reservoir will work with Clearwater-Nez Perce National Forest fire crews to conduct prescribed burning just southwest of Dicks Creek beginning on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 15, and Monday, Sept. 16. Dicks Creek is located on the north side of the reservoir between Freeman Creek State Park and Dent Acres. Burn plans are contingent upon favorable weather conditions.

  • 13-058 Corps invites public comments on lower Snake River planting plan environmental assessment

    SNAKE RIVER, Wash. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Walla Walla District invites public comments on an environmental assessment (EA) for habitat improvements at locations along the lower Snake River. Comments are due by Sept 6. The Corps is proposing to plant native vegetation on three Habitat Management Units (HMUs) along the lower Snake River to create or enhance approximately 125 acres of wildlife habitat to help meet the terrestrial wildlife mitigation requirements of the Lower Snake River Fish and Wildlife Compensation Plan. Proposed planting sites are located in Garfield, Whitman and Walla Walla Counties, along the banks of the lower Snake River. The three sites proposed for habitat enhancement are: Ayer, Swift Bar, and Willow Bar HMUs.

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – The Walla Walla District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is delaying completion of the lower Snake River Programmatic Sediment Management Plan Environmental Impact Statement (PSMP-EIS) and proposed dredging of the lower Snake River in Lewiston-Clarkston and near Ice Harbor Lock and Dam in Burbank, Wash. The delay is due to remaining complex EIS technical and environmental review requirements, plus associated contract planning efforts.

    POMEROY, Wash. – Vehicles crossing the Snake River at Lower Granite Lock and Dam may encounter delays of up to 2 hours Aug. 12-16 to accommodate maintenance activities on top of the dam, according to operations officials with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Walla Walla District.
  • 13-054 Mill Creek’s north-shore trail to temporarily close for riprap placement

    WALLA WALLA, Wash. – Parts of the paved trail on the north side of the Mill Creek channel will be temporarily closed to all visitors on Monday, Aug. 5, through Thursday, Aug. 8, while channel maintenance activities occur in the creek, just below the dam.
